About Us

Captain Andy Massey has spent his career working the waters of Alaska, from the Inside Passage to the "Deadliest Catch" waters of the Bering Sea. He made his first halibut trip on a big boat just after high school in 1975. Fish were scarce then, but stringent conservation efforts rebuilt the halibut stocks to the sustainable levels that we now enjoy.

Commercial fishermen made the several year sacrifice, fishing less, to nurture and rebuild for the future. That sacrifice paid off and  fish are availiable for every user group. We're not out of the woods yet, but our future looks bright.

"I've crewed on a dozen longliners, and skippered two," says the Coast Guard 100 Ton Licensed Master, "but my greatest thrill is to share this experience with visitors."   Capt Massey completed the UAS Navigation and Seamanship  courses , has a  SEACC Drills Instructor / Drills conductor certification, is current in  the Red Crosses, First Aid,CPR, and AED Training and is cold weather/cold water survival trained.

Whales, sea lions, seals, and bald eagles are a common sight. Orcas and sea otters are also seen often.

We see everything the whale watch cruises see, plus we run a set a halibut gear, and get to see what's on it.
